Sri Lanka inflation breaches CB’s upper limit for third month in Sept; remains at 37-mo high
Sri Lanka’s overall rate of inflation, as measured by the Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI), rose to more than three-year high of 8.0 percent in September 2026, steady from previous month, breaching the Central Bank’s upper inflation target rate of 7 percent for the third month, data from the state statistics office showed.

Sri Lanka’s corporate debt swells to US $ 86.5bn as IIF flags data gaps
Sri Lanka’s non-financial corporate debt is estimated to have risen to 72.0 percent of GDP or US $ 86.5 billion, by June 2026, the highest among the South Asian economies tracked, with the ratio rising in every quarter since early 2024, as per the data from Washington-based Institute of International Finance (IIF).

Budget 2027 to be presented on 12 Nov.; final vote on 14 Dec.
The President, in his capacity as Finance Minister, will present the 2027 Budget in Parliament on 12 November, 2026, Parliament said. The final vote is scheduled for 14 December.

CPC raises fuel prices.
The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) raised the prices of diesel and Petrol 92 Octane with effect from last midnight, with Super Diesel posting the sharpest increase.

Fuel and vehicle imports expected to ease: CBSL.
Vehicle imports slowed in August, and the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) expects the trend to continue due to tighter loan-to-value (LTV) rules and a Government surcharge, Governor Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe said yesterday. LTV rules limit how much of a vehicle’s price can be financed with a loan.
