Central Depository Systems (Pvt) Ltd (CDS), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), marked its 35th anniversary by ringing the market opening bell at the CSE, celebrating more than three decades of strengthening Sri Lanka’s capital market infrastructure.

Third mutual Anti-Money Laundering assessment: CBSL warns of evaluation failure
Sri Lankan legal professionals submitted only two Suspicious Transaction Reports to the Central Bank’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) in the last six years, as Sri Lanka attempts to pass its third mutual evaluation conducted by the Asia Pacific Group on Anti-Money Laundering in 6-weeks time, Central Bank of Sri Lanka Governor Dr Nandalal Weerasinghe said, speaking at the Inaugural Anti-Money Laundering Symposium by the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) held yesterday (8).

Gross official reserves rise by 4.6%
Sri Lanka’s gross official reserve assets increased by 4.6% to $ 6,905 million by the end of August 2026, latest data from the Central Bank of Sri Lanka shows. At the end of the previous month (July), this value was recorded at $ 6,600 million.

Labour: Govt to pay Rs 4.5 b arrears to state plantation workers
The Sri Lankan Government has approved the payment of more than Rs 4.5 billion (b) in outstanding statutory dues to over 10,000 current and retired employees of three State-owned plantation institutions; the Sri Lanka State Plantations Corporation (SLSPC), Janatha Estate Development Board (JEDB) and Elkaduwa Plantations Company (EPC).

Brent crude rises above $100 a barrel as Middle East conflict intensifies

Benchmark Brent crude oil futures rose ‌past $100 a barrel on Wednesday, hitting a more than six-week high and breaching the symbolic threshold for the first time since July 24 as intensifying conflict in the Middle East heightened concerns about oil flows from the region.

Iran war will end right after November US midterm elections: Donald Trump

Sri Lanka Treasury bill yields dip across longer terms, Rs80bn sold
